We only reload for precision and long range (for caliber) target shooting. I do not see any point of spending my time building precision ammunition with inferior products. I have not tested Benchrest primers VS non- BR primers, or other brands of BR primers. Started with these and have been pleased. We routinely keep our (3 round & 5 round) groups under an inch at 100 or 1 MOA. This is in auto-loaders. DDM4, Colt HBars and our builds. Plenty of accuracy for ringing steel plates out to 400. Occasional “one holer” groups but that’s not common for us yet. Still need to tinker with other variables…but not primers.

CCI has always made excellent primers. Their BR (bench rest) primers are simply a step above other “standard” primers. With chronograph data you will see that the velocity, while a little lower, will be more consistent with less extreme spread and smaller SD’s. These are worth the extra cost. I have about 25,000 CCI BR primers (LR & SR).
Bener –
I use the CCI BR-4 small rifle primers on my most accurate rifles. I have compared their accuracy to the CCI 400, Federal 205M, and Remington 7 1/2 primers and have found that the BR-4s are more accurate after comparing their performance in the same rifles using the same powder loads and the same bullets under equivalent conditions.
