This is the very first powder I started reloading with, way back in 1966. I killed my first seven deer with ammo I loaded with IMR 4895 and Hornady 150gr Spire Point bullets in a war surplus .303 Lee Enfield No.4 Mk1 my grandfather sporterized. This is still the most accurate load I’ve ever shot in that rifle. There have been countless high-power rifle matches won with this powder in M1 Garands and other rifles. This is still an excellent and accurate powder for many non-magnum cartridges with medium weight bullets. It may not give the absolute highest velocity for a given bullet in a given cartridge, but it will usually be one of the most accurate powders for that cartridge. It takes a little more time and a consistent technique to accurately meter charges thrown from a powder measure, but my method is to set the measure to throw a charge just under the desired weight and bring it up to the desired weight using a powder trickler.

An old but good powder. I have used IMR 4895 for years.

A solid performer with cartridges from the 6mm Rem to the 30-06.

This is a very good rifle powder for use in reloading rounds for hunting. It has a very good burn rate and is not sensitive to changes in temperature so it is really an all season good all around powder. It’s all I use now in my 30-06.
